The Federation Starship Voyager was an Intrepid-class starship capable of warp 9.975. It was originally sent on a mission to find a Maquis ship that had disappeared mysteriously in the Badlands along with Voyager's chief security officer, Tuvok. On Star-date 48315.6, Voyager and her crew were flung 70,000 light years to the Delta Quadrant by an entity known as the Caretaker. Even at maximum speed, it would take them 75 years to make back to Federation space. So with out any aid from Star-fleet, they began their journey home.
