Background:

There are five distinct species of Xindi: Xindi-Primate (initially called "Xindi-Humanoid"), Xindi-Reptilian, Xindi-Arboreal (sometimes called "Xindi-Sloth"), Xindi-Aquatic and Xindi-Insectoid. A sixth species, the Xindi-Avians, are now extinct: they were killed off in a war that lasted for nearly a century. These Avians lacked the same technological advances of the other species and so when the planet was destroyed they lacked the capability to leave. In the end the Xindi homeworld, Xindus, was destroyed causing the spread of the other species to nearby planets.

The Xindi Council was formed to reunify the surviving races and pursue a course of peace. Peaceful goals were abandoned when the Council was manipulated by the Guardians into believing that Human beings were planning to attack and destroy the Xindi.

To address the human threat, the Xindi begin construction on a weapon that can vaporize a planet. The weapon is tested on a limited scale during an attack on Earth. A huge swath of land from Florida to South America is vaporized in the attack and 7million are killed.

Despite their varied forms and typical mistrust, they all share a common physicality: a short vent-like opening in the "cheek."

The largest and most powerful ship in the Empire, the Negh’Var serves as the flagship for the Imperial Klingon Defense Forces, and as the Chancellor’s personal battleship. If he does not feel like commanding it himself, he designates a favored warrior to captain it in his stead.

The Negh’Var epitomizes the “winged shaft” design favored by Klingon ship designers. Two broad “wings” stretch straight out from the aft half of the shaft; they do not curve downward or upward as on most Klingon ships. The wings have a vaguely crescent shape; powerful disruptors tip the forward-pointing “horns” of the crescent.

The wings also hold the ship’s four warp nacelles–one above and below each wing. The aft dorsal area of the ship includes a large wedge-shaped section about 20 meters thick. This area contains the ship’s bridge and several other important facilties. Although its elevation above the rest of the ship appears to render it vulnerable, in fact the engineers who designed the ship arranged its shield generators so the shields are particularly strong in that area, making it one of the ship’s best-protected parts.

Rumors and intelligence analyses speculate that the wedge can detach from the ship and fly under its own power, much like the bridge module on an Intrepid-class Light Explorer. However, the High Council consistently denies these reports.

The Negh’Var has heavier and more advanced weaponry than any other Klingon ship. Its forward “notched axehead” module contains a Type 13 disruptor cannon possessing enough power to destroy an unshielded target with just a few shots. Twenty Type 12 disruptor arrays back up the disruptor cannon, providing the ship with multiple arcs of fire on any target. Four torpedo launchers (one in the forward module, one aft, and two dorsal near the “wedge”) ensure that the ship can also attack any target with torpedoes.

Only the fiercest and brightest Klingon warriors earn the right to serve on the Negh’Var. By Klingon law, the Chancellor can choose any warrior from any House to fill a position on the flagship, and most warriors consider it a great honor for the head of the High Council to choose them.

Fleet data:
Built using the same plans as the B’rel class Light Warship, but to larger dimensions, the K’Vort-class Warship serves prominently in the Imperial Klingon Defense Forces and many House militaries. While not as powerful or sophisticated as the Vor’cha-class Heavy Warship, it is cheaper to build and maintain, making it attractive to many poorer Houses.

Unlike the B’rel, the K’Vort-class vessel has only two flight modes, “attack” and “flight”; it lacks atmospheric capability, and so does not need a “landing” mode. However it avoids one of the B’rel’s chief weaknesses by placing two disruptor cannons and one torpedo launcher aft. Its disruptor cannons often fire in tandem (i.e., as a Multifire attack).

The K’Vort’s primary crew numbers only about 350. However, it is designed to serve as a troop transport, and can carry about 1,200 more personnel if need be. The dimensions listed for the K’Vort represent an average length. Due to individual House preferences, resource availability, and other considerations, they can range in size from about 250 meters in length to close to 700 meters.

Evolved from the D7-class Battle Cruiser of the mid- to late 2200s, and in fact first manufactured during the latter part of that period, the K’t’inga-class Battle Cruiser has filled the ranks of the Klingon space forces for nearly a century–a testament to its durability and adaptability.

Although relatively lightly armed and protected compared to many modern ships, it nevertheless remains an important and effective part of the Klingon fleet. Physically, the K’t’inga consists of a broad main hull which vaguely possesses a batwing profile when viewed dorsally or ventrally, and whose “wings” flare out to terminate in warp nacelles; a long, narrow forward shaft, and an axeheadshaped forward module with a bridge module mounted to it dorsally. The forward shaft has proved to be a vulnerability–enemy attacks can sever it, splitting the bridge off from the main hull–but not so much of one that Klingon engineers have seen fit to redesign the ship to eliminate or alter it.

This Starship Template represents the K’t’inga as manufactured during the 2360s and 70s, after numerous class-wide improvements and upgrades from its original systems.

Fleet data:
The B’rel-class Light Warship, or “bird of prey’ as it is most often known, is one of the main vessels of the military forces of the Klingon Empire. Fast and agile, it possesses atmospheric and planetfall capabilities, making it ideally suited for many different types of assaults, raids, escort, and scouting or patrol missions.

The B’rel’s main weapons are two Type 7 disruptor cannons, one mounted at the tip of each “wing” (unlike most ships, which mount the warp nacelles at the ends of pylons, the B’rel embeds them partly within its Engineering hull in the center of its aft region). The cannons can swivel within a 180-degree arc, giving the ship a fairly broad field of fire even when it cannot move. The B’rel mounts a single photon torpedo launcher on the forward ventral side of the command module. To maximize the B’rel’s offensive capacity, its commanders often fire the two disruptor cannons in tandem (i.e., as a Multifire attack). Its greatest tactical weakness is that all of its weapons face forward, with limited arcs of fire. It cannot fire at opponents behind it or to its side, it can only attack targets almost directly in front of it.
The B’rel has three flight modes: landing (wings fully raised); flight (wings held at midpoint); and attack (wings fully descended). However, these are only preferred operating modes, not technological limitations; the ship can attack, cruise, or enter an atmosphere in any mode.

Most B’rel-class Light Warships have crews of about 12. However, in wartime or when conflict is expected, the “passengers” are actually fellow soldiers who function as additional crew, giving the vessel a complement of three dozen or more.

Although the Klingons have since designed many ships which function better and carry greater firepower than the B’rel, it remains the most popular and commonly-encountered ship in the Klingon fleets. There are several reasons for this. First, it’s a tried and true design, tested over the course of a century, and many Klingons are comfortable with it. Second, as the ship which led the Klingons to victories over the Romulans and many other enemies, it has a certain nostalgic quality that appeals to tradition-minded Klingons. Third, and perhaps most importantly, it’s cheap to manufacture and use. Poorer Houses, and even the IKDF itself, find they can build and field entire wings of B’rels for the cost of a single larger, more advanced vessel–and sometimes it’s the number of guns one has, not their size or technological sophistication, that matters.

B’REL VARIANTS
The Klingons have created many different B’rel variants. The most common, the D12 class Bird of Prey, has a targeting periscope in front of the captain’s chair. However, necessary modifications to the cloaking device create defects in the D12’s plasma coil. If an attacker hits the ship with a low-level ionic pulse, the cloak automatically engages, leaving the vessel without shields (and thus completely vulnerable to attack) for two seconds.

The dimensions listed for the B’rel indicate its full beam and height in specific flight modes; the ship does not occupy its “maximum” dimensions at all times. Additionally, the listed dimensions represent an average size B’rel. Due to individual House preferences, resource availability, and other considerations, they can range in size from about 110 meters in length to about 175 meters.

Few starships have experienced “growing pains” like the Defiant class. Developed as a response to first contact with the Borg Collective, she goes against almost every tenet of Federation shipbuilding. Her gestation has been painful, with the vessel almost canceled outright on a number of occasions. However, recent events have played in her favor, and it was decided to modify the vessel to make it a better fit with the modern fleet.

Class: Derided by some as “the bastard child of the mating of a cruiser and a runabout”, the Defiant is essentially an escort body with a cruiser’s power plant and weapons systems. The ship is low and wide, presenting a very small silhouette to targeting sensors. The vessel mounts almost all her weapons forward, and is designed to engage targets from the front.

Classification: The Defiant class has been classified as an escort.

Design: The Defiant and her sisters are incredibly spartan for Federation vessels. There is no dedicated medical staff, the small sickbay overseen by an Emergency Medical Hologram, but with a crew of only forty, this is not seen as a problem. The EMH is powered by its own power source and the emitter array is isolated to the sickbay. On such a small vessel, the FSQ shield system allows the Defiant to take massive amounts of punishment. In addition, ablative hull armor has been fitted to the ship to deflect disruptor accounts. Only the original Defiant mounted a cloaking device, which was of Romulan origin.

Engineering: The Valiant and her sisters mount a heavily de-tuned version of the LF-35 warp drive system fitted to the original Defiant. While still too powerful for such a small vessel, the changes have greatly improved the ship’s handling characteristics. Top speed dropped to Warp 9.4, but she is far more efficient in the Warp 7-8 cruising range, allowing for a longer endurance. Tactical: The Defiant class mounts a devastating weapons array up front - four Type XII pulse phaser cannon and two Type X phaser arrays. She also has two Mk 90 photon torpedo launchers. Such a phaser-heavy compliment was created based on the Borg’s resistance to photon torpedoes. In her new role as an escort, the ability to deliver sustained such intense phaser power on target was an asset in the close-quarter battle tactics used by the Dominion.

Computer Systems: The Defiant class is fitted with the Daystrom Computer Systems M-15 found on most ships of the line.

Builders: Cosmadyne was the initial prime contractor, though they received design assistance from numerous other design bureaus in their attempts to get the ship to work. The original ship was built at Earth Station McKinley, but final outfitting was performed at the Antares Yards in Bajor, so that facility is listed as the builder. The next four vessels were manufactured at ESM, with an additional eight split between M’Yengh Yards on Cait and the Alfras Fleet Yards at Deneb V. The final two were built at Utopia Planitia, Mars.

Development and Construction History: After first contact with the Borg Collective, Starfleet immediately began an intensive development program for a new series of ships to repel a possible future Borg invasion. The program essentially boiled down to using a few massive vessels, or a fleet of small, heavily armed and shielded, attack ships. The former concept became the Courageous and the latter the Defiant. Construction began in 2366 after a hastily put-together design program.
Simulations showed massive design flaws, and with the Borg some 5,000LY away, the program was criticized by many in the MSC. With the invasion by the Collective in 2367 and the defeat at Wolf 359, her critics were silenced and construction began in earnest, with changes made in the yard to try and correct the deficiencies. The ship was completed and began her shakedown tests in 2368. These trials were an absolute disaster.

The initial simulations did not do justice to the actual problems with her flight and structure dynamics. The engineer’s quickly determined that the propulsion system was far too powerful for such a small ship. Though she was designed for bursts of up to Warp 9.99, in actuality the ship’s structure could barely handle Warp 9 without risk of coming apart. After these tests, the ASDB declared the design a failure and mothballed the program pending a complete re-evaluation.

Instead, the Courageous class was given the go-ahead and the first vessel was started. With the coming of the Dominion threat, plans were again floated to return the Defiant to the yards and finish her out. It was felt that a large vessel would attract too much attention and the Defiant’s smaller size would work. Most surprisingly, the Romulans approved of this plan, going as far as to offer a cloaking device and Tactical Advisor for the vessel. The ship was returned to the yards in 2370 and the vessel formally entered service in 2372, assigned to Deep Space Nine. Since that time, the Defiant class has proven herself time and time again in a variety of missions. Though the original ship was flawed, work continued on refining the concept and making it more stable.

Continued simulation eventually resulted in new changes that resulted in a far more effective ship and a prototype, the U.S.S. Valiant, was commissioned. The new vessel proved to be a far better prospect than the original Defiant, but she was lost on a secret mission inside Dominion space.

Conclusion: Though not effective against the Borg, the Defiant proved quite effective against Dominion (Cardassian and Jem’Hadar) vessels. As the Dominion War heated up, a crash construction program was authorized that saw nine vessels started in 2373, all of them entering service in the final months of the war.

Nomenclature: The Sao Paulo (75633) was renamed to Defiant by order of the Chief of Fleet Operations to replace the original, lost in battle against the Breen at Chin’Toka. It kept the original NCC, however.

Starfleet’s emphasis on new ships in the early twenty-fourth century was on large explorers and, later, mid-to-large cruisers and destroyers. Smaller escort duties were handled by the older Miranda class ships. However, these vessels were pretty much outmatched by Orion and Klingon pirate forces, requiring the assignment of Excelsior and Steamrunner Class ships to escort duties on the more important convoys. While this insured the protection of the convoys, it also cost a great deal of money. Therefore, a new class of small escorts was needed to provide convoy security, patrol of trade routes, and defense of important trading zones.

Class: The Saber Class had originally started design life as a scout, however her small size made it difficult to fit the proper sensor suites. The SSDAC and ASDB quickly came to the conclusion that the Saber would make an excellent escort platform, saving the development costs of a new class and providing ships far sooner. The facilities for the Sabre Class are considered adequate for her role. They are quite small compared to their larger sisters, but they are still comfortable. Amenities such as personal replicators have been removed, the crew sharing a meal in one of two large messhalls.

The Saber Class was designed to carry up to 200 people in emergency situations, though the quarters are little larger than a bed and a set of chairs. The Dominion War placed new importance on these ships, as they provided protection for supply convoys throughout the area of combat operations.

Classification: The Saber class was originally considered as a scout, however it was decided the vessel made a better escort and changes were implemented in the design process which resulted in the new classification.

Design: The Saber Class is one of the smallest vessels in general Fleet service. The vessel is also highly modular in nature. This allows smaller independent shipyards to fabricate the major subassemblies, which are then shipped to a larger Starfleet facility for final assembly. The independent yards entered into a fierce battle to offer the most competitive advantage, resulting in significant cost savings as well as improved construction and delivery times.

Engineering: The Saber Class was fitted with the LF-25 warp drive and FIG-2 impulse system. The result is a vessel capable of high speeds and extended duration — both important for an escort. They also provide large power reserves for weapons and shields.

Tactical: As an escort, the Saber Class needed to be well-armed. As such she carries four of the new Type X phaser emitters developed for the Galaxy Class, as well as two Mk 75 photon torpedo launchers. The FSP shield system provides exceptional fire-dissipation rates, allowing the ship to stand-to and hammer it out with far larger vessels.

Computer Systems: Trying to fit the M-13 Isolinear computer system core into the Saber Class proved quite a problem. However, the tactical and propulsion systems required this model. They were finally able to do so, but a great deal of storage capability has been removed to allow the core to fit in the space allotted. This is not considered a problem, however, as the ship’s computing storage needs are minimal.

Builders: M’Yengh Yards of Cait was named prime contractor, in view of their excellent work on smaller starship designs, both Fleet and private. However, they actually never built a ship. Instead, they oversaw multiple subcontractors who were selected to help speed production. These contractors produced the ship in sections which were then sent to the larger shipyards for final assembly. In this way, M’Yengh’s experience was leveraged with improved construction techniques, which proved beneficial to all parties.

Almost two decades before the Ambassador class entered service, the four-nacelle cruisers of the Constellation class were sent on missions to the extreme fringes of explored space and beyond. When the Ambassador class entered service, their first missions were to interesting systems and phenomena mapped by the Constellations.

Class: As the first Galaxy class starships started construction in the early 2350s, the Constellation class continued in service, performing deep-space mapping. The survey and exploration suites had been updated over the years, but the vessels were much slower than the explorers who followed them.

Therefore, in 2351 the ASDB formed the Cheyenne class Starship Development Project to develop a new high-speed / long-duration class of scout. The vessel was to mass under 2.5 million tons, so the LF-30 series of warp drive was chosen. Though favored by the ASDB, using only two nacelles could not be guaranteed to meet the speed and duration required and, as they had done with the Constellation, it was decided to mount four nacelles to the Cheyenne.

Classification: The Cheyenne Class was designated as a Superscout from the inception of the program.

Design: The Cheyenne Class bears a striking resemblance to her Constellation Class forebear. This is deliberate, as the Constellation design worked and the ASDB did not want to “mess with a good thing”. The nacelles were specially designed for the Cheyenne, in an attempt to better harmonize the warp fields generated. The primary hull bears a striking resemblance to that of the Galaxy Class, though it is much smaller. Someone serving on a Constellation would marvel at the new staterooms aboard the Cheyenne. The wide elliptical primary hull allows room size almost 75% larger than those found aboard the Constellation. The sensor, survey, and scientific suites were the most advanced of their time.

Engineering: Four LF-30 warp drive nacelles were added. As it had with the Constellation Class, this required the fi tting of a larger warp core, which then tied together to provide balanced operation through a unifi ed “H”-shaped intermix chamber system. The LF-30 has proven to be a highly reliable design – a desirable trait in a deep-range explorer.

Tactical: The Cheyenne is surprisingly lightly armed considering she is designed to operate so far from support. However, the Federation of the Cheyenne’s time was a far quieter and peaceful place than when the Constellation’s plied the spacelanes. Three Type IX phaser arrays and two Mk 75 photon torpedo launchers are carried, along with the FSP shield system.

Computer Systems: The isolinear-chip based M-13 series of computers were custom built for the Cheyenne Class, as the existing duotronic-based M-12 was too large and smaller, earlier models did not have the computing power or storage capacity to meet the stated requirements.

Builders: Being built in batches, Cheyenne construction was handed out to whatever yard had the available capacity to build them, so vessels were constructed from Mars to Bajor.

Development and Construction History: Four-nacelle starships are not easy to build, which is why there have been only two designs. The Constellation Class offered somewhat of a benchmark for the Cheyenne to use, but calibration still took almost a full year after the lead ship was launched in 2354. The vessel reached a speed of Warp 9.4 before hull stresses reached serious levels.

Conclusion: The problems with the Cheyenne Class are similar to those with the Constellation and seem to prove that two nacelles are, in general, the best way to go. Those problems aside,the Cheyenne Class has performed well, much like the Constellation.

When commissioned in 2286, the USS Excelsior (NCC 2000) was dubbed “The Great Experiment” due to her Koëller Uti K27 transwarp drive. When the drive proved to be a failure and the ship was returned to Space Dock to be fitted with traditional warp engines, some thought the a class that started with so much potential would end up being a white elephant. How wrong they were.

The Excelsior recently celebrated her fiftieth year in service and looks strong to celebrate a century come 2385. Over fifty sisterships have joined her, and production continues at the rate of five vessels per annum. There are three distinct sub-classes of the Excelsior.

The “original” version remains the most popular, with thirty vessels in service. When transwarp encountered serious troubles during her first test runs, Star Fleet decided to halt production of the second vessel, USS Ingram, while in the yards. When construction resumed a few months later, the ship was extensively modified to a Space Control Ship format.

The design proved convincing enough that the fourth through fifth vessels were also built to this format. Excelsior herself was expected to be converted to Ingram specficiations and the program ended. However, her Commanding Officer, Captain Hikaru Sulu of USS Enterprise fame, put forward an intriguing option — turn the ship into an explorer, ala the heavy cruiser fleet.

The plan was agreed (mainly because it was far cheaper than converting the ship into an Ingram) and while conventional warp drive units were being installed, the ships already impressive sensor and laboratory suite were improved even more. The ship was re-launched in 2290 and began a three-year research mission to cataloging planetary atmospheric anomalies. The ship performed amazingly well, and Columbia (BB 2002) was built to the same specifi cations.

The third version of the Excelsior began shortly after it was decided to retire the USS Enterprise (NCC 1701-A) in 2292. Two large sensor pods were placed to either side of the main deflector dish, housing either a scientific or a surveillance package. Enterprise (NCC 1701-B) was chosen as the name for the first of these vessels and an additional nine were built over the years (three more surveyors, like Enterprise and six surveillance models, three each sent to the Romulan and Klingon borders). All Excelsior Class vessels mount an extremely powerful tactical suite, befitting their original battleship classification. As such, they are quite capable of operating in forward areas without need of escorts.

Species 8472

Species 8472 are the single species that can naturally resist the Borg because of their immune system.

Species 8472 have come to this dimension from fluidic space; a dimension that is not made up from space, but from organic matter. They have five limbs; two arms and three legs, indents in their heads, and are very strong psychics. They were at war with the Borg the first time that they were discovered by Kathryn Janeway, Captain of the Star Ship Voyager.

The Borg started the war, by trying to assimilate 8472. The Borg were temporarily allied with Voyager, and together they drove Species 8472 back to their own dimension by altering Borg nanoprobes to essentially eat Species 8472 from the inside. They are approx 3 meters tall extremely muscular and genetically superior.

The Borg believes them to be the perfect form of biological life. Species 8472s immune system can destroy any foreign contaminants biological chemical or technical. Their DNA is arranged in a triple helix formation and is the most densely coded DNA ever discovered by star fleet. Their immune system can even be used as a weapon. If cornered they use their claws allowing species 8472's cells to come into contact with a victim where they infect every system and consume it from the inside out.

In addition if threatened they can commit suicide by releasing a cellular toxin into their bloodstream they emit a bio-genetic field around their bodies; this field renders them nearly invisible to sensors, making it impossible to pinpoint their exact location. This field also interferes with normal transporters. Exactly how this bio-genetic field is created is unknown.

Physiologically, species 8472 is non-humanoid. They are able to withstand the vacuum of space. It is probable that in fluidic space they are able to swim through the organic matter similar to their ships, which share their unique physiology. They communicate exclusively via telepathy. Kes was able to make contact with species 8472 while they where in conflict with the Borg; they vowed that "the weak will perish".

With their dense musculature and increased height, species 8472 posses’ great flexibility and can move faster than either humanoids or Borg. They are able to penetrate force fields and rip through bulk heads with apparent ease. They have very little soft tissue and much of their skeleton is exposed, particullary around the neck. Species 8472 does not appear to have nostrils suggesting a sense of smell; but posses no ears or mouth and have distinctive croos shaped pupils.

They appear purple or green depending on the lighting. It is unknown if they always lived in fluidic or they were dumped there by their creators known as the phobians, little is known about them only that they created 8472 to fight their enemies. The bioships used by species 8472 are very advanced and share their unique genetic make up.

They are living organic vessels capable of warp speed, and very heavily armed and shielded. Inside the floor and walls appear to look like flesh; spider web like is used instead of EPS system. The structural supports are made of bone. The ships computer is similar to a nervous system and uses neropeptides. The ships are native to fluidic space and are able to function in organic matter of fluidic space as well as in normal space they are also equipped to detect pressure waves created when a vessel enters fluidic space.

A bioship carries one crewman as its pilot; its hull is resistant to conventional wepeons, including Borg assimilation, sensory scans and tractor beams. The bioships are armed with energy beam weapons. Although the beam appears less coherent than either Starfleet or Borg weapons it is able to inflict greater damage; Voyager was knocked of course by a beam that just missed it. Nine bioships can combine their firepower to form a planet killer. It is unknown whether bioships evolved naturally in fluidic space or they were engineered to fit their purpose. It is believed they were created by a race called the phobians who used them for war.This would explain why there so advanced.They overpowered there creaters ...it is unknown whether fluidic space was there realm or they were dumped there.They open quantum singularites to get to our realm.As of now they are allied with the federation.
