As a trekkie, I often ponder about the moral implications of many of the TNG episodes. Money having gone the way of the dinosaurs, Jean Luke Picard states in First contact
"The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity"
Which political views does the federation have? Does the federation have state based foundations? ... Are these views that Gene has voiced before??
So many questions... where to start ;)

It looked like in the Deep Space 9 series taht money hadden't gone the way of the dinosaurs, but that Starfleet had stoped using it.
The Frengi still used it (alot)... Gold Pressed Latnium, Klingons and humans still used it, but the Federation stoped condoining it... as it corrputs people, as seen in several episodes.
Money will never be completly removed form humanity as it makes the world go round. (and keeps our favorite shows on the air)

Is this an intuitive concept for the interface between the manifest and unmanifest worlds? Does the manifest world in the process of being created produce disturbances in the field? Is intuition the act of receiving information from this field?

(above) has a good point. By keeping it Star Trek, but no the exact same Star Trek, this opens a door to twist anything, and make anything happen. I will also agree that the plot is a little weak, but they mask it with its complexity and creativity.

Umm, Spock was not a lieutenant. I mean, he had to have been sometime or another, but he's generally known as a Lieutenant Commander, Commander, Captain, Admiral, etc.

Hi all just seen the trailer for the new star trek film.
What do you all think? I was under the impression in the original series Captain Pike did not know Kirk, it was Spock that knew him. In the episode called The Menagerie it was spock who had served with Pike for more than a decade, makes clandestine arrangements to take Pike back to Talos IV to be re-united with Vina.
Am I missing somrthing? does anyone know how they have made a pile/kirk connection?

As far as I am aware Kesprytt was never accepted in the UFP because the two sides were at odds with each other and the planet was too split to be allowed to be apart of the UFP. If I remember correctly Commander Riker (noted at the time) in the episode "Attached" on TNG said that he would basically be sure that Kesprytt was denied their application for membership.

"For some to most shows *except documentaries), one would suppose that true. However, with the extreme strides that take place in today's society, one could almost expect to see faster space travel and much smarter computers within the next 50 or so years. How long would it take for warp speed? That depends on how great of strides we take after faster space travel. Within 100 years, we could be living on Mars; 500 years? We may be living in different galexies. Possibilities are endless; it just takes someone smart enough and ambitious enough to actually do it. I am hopeful to, when I finish my schooling, help society make these changes. It takes inginuity, something many may lack in society. Wait a second....how did this thread go from space bubbles when in warp speed to debating whether or not we will ever see space travel?" THE CONVERSATION JUST WENT TWICE THE SPEED OF LIGHT,AND CONSEQUIENTLY ,THAT FORCED TIME TO REVERT BACKWARDS TO A POINT BEFORE THIS CONVERSATION EVER TOOK PLACE...BEAM ME UP SCOTTY!!!
