What is the origin on this classification system? Do the letters have any special significance? I always wondered about that. I'm sure a die hard fan on here can help clear this up.

It seems like another possible name for this section could be "Astrometrics". Geography seems so non space oriented.

Star Trek today is no longer just a television series. It has become a philosophy for many who look on it as portraying a society that has overcome most of the problems that plague us today. A society which they hope will come to pass in the not to distant future.

I agree very much. Star trek shows us a world where all [ok, most] of the problems come from the outside, such as other races, or faulty transporters. Unlike our society, where life's problems (more often then not) come from inside life itself.
Although, in my personal opinion, ST does push American values a little much.

I remember a long time ago, I saw a Star Trek episode, that involved a Xenephobic race, that created a cloaking field around their entire planet. I do not know which show it was (It was either Generations, or Voyager). I'm wondering, does anyone remember this episode, which series it was, what the episode was called, and what the race was called? I tried searching for 'Xenephobe' and 'Xenephobic', in the wiki, however, I could not find it.

"Note that e=mc^2 also proves that at the speed of light anything and everything will have infinite mass. Therefore they will be impossible to move, so there has to be a "bit" (or 1/infinity) between the speed of light and the speed of you.
And you need an incredibly efficient system even to get close - the SCRAMJET while travelling at 17,500 mph can only fly for 11 seconds on one tank.
Oh and antimatter reacts explosively with matter on a 1:1 ratio."
LMAO! That's told me...

There's definitely an Alien Species that's called the Bothans, and I do think there is one in Star Trek. I guess I'll reference it with the encyclopedia.

I'm a little nervous about this one - it looks very much like it was copy and pasted from somewhere. If the author reads this, please note that I would like to know where you got this information, just as a reference at the bottom, or something.
Thanks, W_2.0
