What is the origin on this classification system? Do the letters have any special significance? I always wondered about that. I'm sure a die hard fan on here can help clear this up. Do you find this valuable?

I don't know what the origin is or if the letters mean anything. If i find out i will post a reply Do you find this valuable?

I think there's no any special significance, maybe except to the M class planets, because in the Trek universe the M class planets are the "Earth-like" planets, and in the Vulcan system, the Earth-like planets called '"Minshara" class, which starts with letter M. But this is only a theory. :)
